PT4002 4 Day 3 Night The Complete North
Price From : 5,550 - 20,900 Baht
If you have the time to spend four days in this beautiful part of Thailand then you will see all the highlights that the north of Thailand has to offer. Temples, hill tribes, Thailand's premier National Park, traditional Thai dancing, and an overnight trip to Chiang Rai are just some of the features in this 4-day 3-night package tour of northern Thailand and Chiang Mai.
Day 1 - Doi Suthep Temple
Doi Suthep is the most famous of Chiang Mai's temples and it's most prominent sitting at 1685 meters above the city. Nestled on a small sub-peak on Doi Pui mountain the temple affords spectacular views across the city and beyond. Even for those who are not temple buffs, the view is worth the trip alone. We will take you up the winding road towards the base of the temple, here you will have the choice of tackling the 306 steps to the temple or there is a funicular railway for those who are less steady on their feet. Following the temple visit, we will then proceed to visit a Hmong hill tribe settlement. Doi Suthep Temple is a 'must-see' on any visit to Chiang Mai. For those who are interested, we can arrange a visit to Phu Ping Palace which is situated between the Hmong village and Doi Suthep. Before transferring you to your hotel we will stop by a real Thai local market (either Warorot or Payom) where you can take in all the sights and sounds that a working local market offers.
On this first evening, you will be taken to Chiang Mai's Old Cultural Center for traditional northern Thai food as well as traditional Thai and hill tribe dance shows.
Day 2 - Doi Inthanon National Park
The third day of this tour will be spent in Doi Inthanon National Park. Before embarking on our trip into the park we will stop at Wat Prathat Sri Chom Tong an important temple in the area housing Buddhist relics. We will continue the drive to the summit of Doi Inthanon the highest mountain in Thailand on the route we will stop at the King and Queen Chedi's to enjoy the great views that these mountainside chedi's offer over the park. You will get to see two of Inthanon's most spectacular cascading waterfalls (Siritharn and Wachiritharn), A Karen hill tribe village, the Royal project research station and we will take a refreshing nurture walk at an altitude of around 2500 meters where the flora and faunas are unique and the air deliciously cool. On the way down the mountain will stop by a local Hmong hill tribe market and check out some of the produce they grow within the bound of the national park.
Day 3 Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai
We will collect you from Your Chiang Mai hotel and start the first day by taking the northern route towards Chiang Dao where we will stop to see the Chiang Dao cave system. We will take a special lamp-lit tour into the deep and dark caverns that this cave offers. Will will then visit the multi-tiered Thaton temple which will afford views over the Burma jungle as well as down the Mae Kok river valley towards Chiang Rai. A sumptuous buffet lunch will be taken on the banks of the Mae Kok river before boarding the bus to drive towards the Karen Long Neck village. We will then drive on up into the mountains stopping at an Akha village and then on up to the Chinese community on Doi Mae Salong where the air is cool and you will see the cultivation of tea and visit the mountain top Wat Santikhiri Temple which affords amazing views over the town of Doi Mae Salong and beyond!. We will arrive at your hotel in Chiang Rai in the evening and you will have a chance to freshen up before a visit to Chiang Rai Night Bazaar, this is an excellent spot for some craft shopping as well as a good place to try some local Thai food while enjoying the entertainments.
Day 4 - Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai
We will collect you from your Chiang Rai hotel and begin the day with a visit to the historic Chiang Sean on the banks of the Mekong River where we will see Wat Chedi Luang a remnant temple from the kingdom which used to occupy this site. A short drive further up the river will bring you to the famed Golden Triangle area meeting points of Burma, Laos, and Thailand. Here you will have the option to ride a boat on the Mekong River to get a closer look at Myanmar and stop on the Laos island of Don Xao. Next is the Thai border town of Mae Sai and its bustling border market (a crossing into Burma can be arranged on request). On our way back to Chiang Mai, we will stop by the White Temple. On this tour we can arrange a short crossing by boat across the Mekong to the small Laos settlement of Don Xao. In Don Xao there is a small tourist market where some Laos souvenirs and goods can be found. From the beginning of 2015 a passport will be required if you want to take the Mekong boat trip to the Laos island of Don Xao (before a passport was not required) Please bring your passport if you want to do this option. Please also note that no exit or entry visas will be stamped in your passport and if you do cross onto the island of Don Xao your Thai visa will be unaffected. A small landing fee of 20 baht is usually collected by Laos authorities.
The road to this temple is extremely steep in places, so with regards to safety we now implement the following procedures when visiting this temple. if you are being transported by car (as opposed to a minibus) then the guide and driver will drive you by vehicle to visit this temple in Doi Mae Salong. If you are being transported by minibus then unfortunately we will not be able to drive you to this temple as we feel the minibus is to bulky to manouver this steep road safely. However for the minibus customers you will have the option to walk up to this temple via the 700+ stepped staircase (please note that a very good level of fitness will be required!) If the road is wet we will not be able to drive to this temple by car or minibus as we feel the road is too slippery in places to do this safely.
This is a 5 Day 4 night tour and you will be provided with meals as follows:
We provide accident insurance for this tour to cover medical bills up to a maximum amount of 100,000 baht.
