Another early start will be required on day two especially if you want to catch the Saturday Buffalo Market at Sanpatong! We will depart Chiang Mai and if you are doing this tour on a Saturday we will make a stop at the weekly Sanpatong Buffalo Market. This is a once-weekly market where buffaloes and a variety of other livestock are traded. Around this agricultural market, a large local market springs up in the morning offering a whole host of local items and foodstuffs to the hungry market-goers.

The tour will continue to Doi Inthanon National Park. You will first visit the spectacular Wachiritharn Waterfall and then onto the start of the Mae Klang Luang trail. This trail will get you well away from the main tourist route and allow you to see a very interesting cross-section of this stunning national park. The trail will first follow a forested route downhill before the trail meets the river. You will spend some time following the river. The trail will pass Pa Dok Siew Waterfall where at the base if you want to cool off please feel free to take a dip in the cool waters. The trail will eventually open out into agricultural land which surrounds Mae Klang Luang Karen village. you will see coffee bushes and rice paddies. You will see the two majestic king and queen pagodas at the top of the mountain and enjoy the views from this high vantage point. You will visit the highest part of Doi Inthanon which is also Thailand’s highest mountain and you will walk the Angkha Nature Trail (400m short walk) where you will see a unique variety of flora which only flourishes at this high altitude.
