Get ready for an early start on day one of this three-day package as we need to get out into the city early to catch the monks go about their early morning alms rounds. You will get to see the lively city of Chiang Mai at this early hour as the city's population goes about its morning business. Amongst the hustle of the morning market, you will get to offer alms (make food offerings) to the monks as they go about their morning alms round. The next part of the morning tour will be to take the winding road up the mountain to Chiang Mai's most prominent and important Temple Doi Suthep. In the morning you will enjoy a more calm and cool visit to this spectacular temple as you will miss the tourist crowds and avoid the heat of the day. After the temple, you will head down the mountain where you will be provided with a local breakfast. After breakfast, we will take in a couple more of the cities interesting temples. You will see Wat Chedi Luang which was once Chiang Mai's highest structure and we will see Wat Srisuphan which is at the heart of the silver-making area on Wualai Rd. Our final stop of the day will be a Warorot Market to see firsthand one of the commercial areas frequented by locals in their droves to purchase fresh and dried food items of all descriptions. As you were awake at an early hour you may be ready to be returned to your hotel this can be arranged however if you did want to extend your tour into the afternoon we can arrange a visit to The Chiang Mai Art and Culture Museum. This local muse lies at the heart of Chiang Mai. Various exhibits are offered in this recently refurbished muse detailing the historic Lanna way of life.

Chiang Mai

Day 2 - Doi Inthanon and Pa Dok Siew Nature hike

Another early start will be required on day two especially if you want to catch the Saturday Buffalo Market at Sanpatong! We will depart Chiang Mai and if you are doing this tour on a Saturday we will make a stop at the weekly Sanpatong Buffalo Market. This is a once-weekly market where buffaloes and a variety of other livestock are traded. Around this agricultural market, a large local market springs up in the morning offering a whole host of local items and foodstuffs to the hungry market-goers.

The tour will continue to Doi Inthanon National Park. You will first visit the spectacular Wachiritharn Waterfall and then onto the start of the Mae Klang Luang trail. This trail will get you well away from the main tourist route and allow you to see a very interesting cross-section of this stunning national park. The trail will first follow a forested route downhill before the trail meets the river. You will spend some time following the river. The trail will pass Pa Dok Siew Waterfall where at the base if you want to cool off please feel free to take a dip in the cool waters. The trail will eventually open out into agricultural land which surrounds Mae Klang Luang Karen village. you will see coffee bushes and rice paddies. We will make a stop at a local coffee house where they roast, hand grind, and prepare freshly brewed coffee from the hills surrounding the village.

It will then be time for lunch. Lunch will be taken at a local Karen restaurant and then you will board the minibus to see some of the other popular sights Inthanon has to offer. You will see the two majestic king and queen pagodas at the top of the mountain and enjoy the views from this high vantage point. You will visit the highest part of Doi Inthanon which is also Thailand’s highest mountain and you will walk the Angkha Nature Trail (400m short walk) where you will see a unique variety of flora which only flourishes at this high altitude.

If you have not already seen enough waterfalls you can take the option to see Mae Ya which is Doi Inthanon’s biggest falls (However the part authorities does close this waterfall in the wet season months as a safety precaution against water surges after heavy rainfall
