TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day 1 - Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai
Arrive in Chiang Rai by boat on this two-day Package tour to Chiang Rai! This tour will start when we pick you up at your Chiang Mai hotel and take the northern route towards Chiang Dao. Our first stop will be Chiang Dao to see the Chiang Dao cave system. We will take a special lamp-lit tour into the deep and dark caverns that this cave offers. Will will then visit the multi-tiered Thaton temple which affords spectacular views over the jungle towards Burma as well as down the Mae Kok river valley towards Chiang Rai. A sumptuous buffet lunch will be taken on the banks of the Mae Kok river before boarding the transport for the short drive to The Karen Long Neck (Padaung) village we will finish the day by boarding a long tail boat for the journey down the Kok River to Chiang Rai. We will take you to your hotel to freshen up. In the evening we head for Chiang Rai's Night bazaar for your own shopping you will also be able to try local foods here as well as enjoy traditional Thai entertainment.

Day 2 - Chiang Rai to Chiang Rai
After pick up at your Chiang Rai hotel we will make the short drive to Wat Rong Suea Ten (This temple will be immediately recognisable due to it impactful deep sapphire-blue colour. The colour themed visits will continue at our next stop when we will drop into The Black House. (The Black House or Baan Dam is a collection of buildings and structures housing an eclectic collection of art and exhibits. Our next stop will be Wat Chedi Luang in Chiang Saen (An important temple structure in the old Lanna Kingdom of Chiang Saen and then on to The Mekong River, and the famous Golden Triangle area meeting points of Burma, Laos, and Thailand. Here you will have the option to take a boat ride on the Mekong River and set foot on to one of the river Island belonging to Laos. Another buffet will be provided for lunch. We will then proceed to the Mae Sai border market (a crossing into Burma can be arranged on request). On the return leg of the trip to Chiang Mai, we will stop at Wat Rong Khun (White temple) a masterpiece of a temple still in construction as well as Mae Kha Jan Hot springs before we transfer you to your Chiang Mai hotel at the end of the day.
Doi Tung Option - We can visit Mae Fah Luang Gardens at Doi Tung on day two if required. However to fit this is our busy schedule for the day we will need to make an early departure and be on the road by 07:30 am!
Note: You will be required to show your original passport if you want to take the boat ride on the Mekong to the Laos side. Please bring this with you if you want to take this option.

On this tour we can arrange a short crossing by boat across the Mekong to the small Laos settlement of Don Xao. In Don Xao there is a small tourist market where some Laos souvenirs and goods can be found. From the beginning of 2015 a passport will be required if you want to take the Mekong boat trip to the Laos island of Don Xao (before a passport was not required) Please bring your passport if you want to do this option. Please also note that no exit or entry visas will be stamped in your passport and if you do cross onto the island of Don Xao your Thai visa will be unaffected. A small landing fee of 20 baht is usually collected by Laos authorities.
