Night Shopping and Night Markets
Many short term visitors will
probably spend at least a couple of evenings
shopping at one of Chiang Mai's night markets.
Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar on Chiang Klan Road
is probably the most famous shopping venue
and the place to come to pick up all manner
of handcrafts and copied goods. Chiang Mai
also features a couple of very good weekly
evening markets, both the Saturday and Sunday
Walking Street markets are a shoppers paradise
and shouldn't be missed.

Restaurants
Chiang Mai has no end of eating
possibilities with restaurants to suit all
tastes and budgets. Wherever you are staying
in Chiang Mai you will not have to walk far
to find a good eating establishment. For a
the first timer in Chiang Mai a good bet is
to try is one of the many restaurants along
the Ping River. look out for names such as
Riverside, Good view and Brasserie (there
are many more) all serve a good range of Thai
and western food and have the added advantage
of having the pleasant river side setting.
Many of these restaurant will also have live
bands entertaining the diners. |
Bars and drinking venues
There are plenty of bars in
Chiang Mai, you will always find a friendly
bar or two lining the street in any area where
there are a few hotels and guest houses .
There are bars aplenty in Chiang Mai and there
really is something for everyone. |
Chiang Mai Night Clubs
Again plenty of choice here and there should be a least one place which will float your boat. For a mixed crowd of both Farang and Thais look out for names such as Spicy, Bubble and Hotshot, You will find all these to the east of the old city in Chiang Mai's tourist zone. Also in the same area you will find the Large Mandalay which stays open beyond the normal closing times of most places. This place caters to a mostly Thai crowd (probably because of the entrance fee policy, Thais free Foreigners 300 Baht) If you like to party with the young Thais then head up to the Nimmanhemin Road area and look out for names such as Warm Up, Boost and Monkey Club. |

Chiang Mai Gogo Bars
Chiang Mai doesn't have a large go go scene
as some other tourist centers in Thailand
but there are one or two places to go if you
want to see pretty Thai and hill tribe girls
dancing in their bikinis or under ware. The
three main venues for this in Chiang Mai are,
Foxy lady, Spotlight and Starsix |
